Arsenal’s on loan midfielder Yossi Benayoun has said that he is pretty confident that Arsenal will be able to finish in the top four position, which will guarantee them Champions League football next season.

Arsenal struggled during the early part of the campaign after losing Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas to Manchester City and Barcelona respectively. However, Arsene Wenger realised the fact that Arsenal do need a lot of strengthening in order to reach the Champions League positions. Hence, he went out and brought the likes of Yossi Benayoun and Mikel Arteta. Even though Yossi Benayoun has not been able to play regularly for Arsenal, other signings have worked fantastically for the club.

As a result, Yossi Benayoun now believes that Arsenal will be able to challenge for the top four positions. Currently, there in contention with Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham, while Newcastle United also have an outside chance of finishing in the top four. Benayoun also says that there is even a chance Arsenal could emerge as a late contenders for the title given the way the top teams have been dropping points in recent weeks. Benayoun was given a chance to impress the manager in the match against Olympiacos, which was the final group match for Arsenal.

Even though Arsenal lost the match 3-1, Benayoun scored the only goal of the game to press the manager for giving him a chance in future matches. “We are only two points from Chelsea and five from Tottenham. Man U are not that far and I think we have proved ourselves. We beat Chelsea away and if you beat Chelsea away, you can beat any team. We showed the quality and we just need to keep working in every game,” Benayoun said after the defeat against Olympiacos.
