Israel claimed a 2-1 win away to Latvia to keep the pressure on Croatia and Greece at the top of Group F. A 19th minute Yossi Benayoun strike and a penalty by Tal Ben Haim two minutes before half time was enough for the visitors, despite Latvia pulling one back in the 62nd minute through Aleksandrs Cauna.

The win sees Israel remain in third place, level with Croatia on 13 points, but with one game more played. Meanwhile, Latvia remain a distant second from bottom on four points, five behind fourth placed Georgia, but with a game in hand.
