NOT ENOUGH CHANCES

The midfielder of Chelsea, Yossi Benayoun, has said that he will not continue playing for the club after this season as he is not getting enough starting opportunities.

Benayoun had signed for Chelsea in July 2010 after leaving Liverpool, but, his tenure at Stamford Bridge hasn’t been smooth.

He hasn’t played too many matches for Chelsea in the last couple of years. He spent the whole of 2011-12 season playing for Arsenal on loan and then, at the start of the ongoing season, he was placed on loan to his former club West Ham United.

When asked if he will continue to be a part of the Chelsea squad after this season, Benayoun said, “No. I will leave at the end of this season and that’s my decision not the Club’s. The club hasn’t asked me to leave.”

“The reason behind my decision is that I am not getting starting opportunities at Chelsea. It’s hard for me to watch the matches from outside. I want games which I am not getting here.”
“I have got offers from a lot of clubs and my agent is dealing with all that stuff. I will not take any decision in a hurry. I will take my time.”

When asked if he thinks that his decision to sign for Chelsea was not right, Benayoun said, “No, I don’t think so. I enjoyed my time here at Chelsea. Yes, I didn’t get the opportunity to play too many matches, but, you have to understand that it’s a big club and there are a lot of quality midfielders here. Everyone can’t play.”

Benayoun featured for the Blues in 14 matches and scored only 1 goal. That goal came in the Premier League match against Wigan Athletic in August 2010.
