POOR TORRES RUN

Yossi Benayoun has admitted that his Chelsea teammate Fernando Torres is going through a poor run at the moment, but, the Israeli midfielder also believes that Torres has never been handled well by Chelsea.

Torres’ recent form has been extremely poor. He has scored only one goal in his last 13 matches for the Blues. In his most recent appearance in the Europa League match against Sparta, Torres missed a total of 4 goal scoring chances.

Torres is expected to be left out of the starting line up for the FA Cup match against Brentford and on his place; Demba Ba might be included in the starting XI.

When asked about Torres’ recent form, Benayoun said, “He has struggled a bit in the last few games, but, I think the kind of player he is, he needs to be backed. We all know that he is capable of doing extraordinary things.”

“I think Torres has never got the support of the managers during his tenure at Chelsea. The Club has never handled him well. He is a confidence player. Once he gets the backing from the manager, it will start reflecting on his performance on the field.”

“I know him since quite a while and he is a sort of guy who loves challenges. This is also a challenging period for him, but, I am sure he will leave this period behind and will come up with a great performance pretty soon.”

Benayoun had played for West Ham United on loan in the first half of the season. But, he has now returned to Chelsea.

When asked how he is feeling after coming back to Chelsea, Benayoun said, “It’s nice to be back here. I am looking for a few playing opportunities. The first half of the season was tough for me. Hopefully, the second half would be a better one and I would put up some good performances for Chelsea.”
